The US Department of Energy (DoE) has released a request for information (RFI) on a major solar P3 project in New Mexico.

The National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia (NTESS), which runs the Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) on the Kirtland Airforce Base near Albuquerque, New Mexico, is currently studying the feasibility of advanced solar energy projects on the base.

Under the plans, a new 100MW, or larger, solar farm with long-duration storage and minigrid will be delivered through a combination of design, build, finance, operate and maintain elements, with the department specifically mentioning P3 in the questionnaire.

The DoE is looking to assess industry interest and gather information that will help guide NTESS’s future strategy.

Responses are due June 10, 2023. The tender can be found by clicking here.
