“Innovative” P3 slated for Brazil port project

Brazil’s private investment advisory agency Infra SA has put forward a new concession model for the $208m Paranaguá project which could chart a course for future pipeline.

The concession will see private partners take over the deeping of the port and guarantee its availability.

The new model, developed by Infra SA, will see the port’s depth increased compared to previous attempts, allowing for larger vessels to utilize its facilities and increase potential revenues and efficiencies.

“The new model will serve as a parameter for concessions in other ports,” said Jorge Bastos. “It will offset the variation in the exchange rate, fuel prices and inflation, making long-term contracts viable.”

A public hearing on the model is slated to begin next month.
