The Government of Chile has kicked off an 11-strong concession pipeline with a major highway RFP.

The Minister of Public Works has released a tender for the Second Concession Route 5 Section Santiago-Los Vilos, valued at $1.2bn. Under the plans, private partners will take over the concession after its current contract expires next year and will extend the highway by 223km.

The project is the first concession to be tendered under the new Boric-led government, which has now announced an 11-project pipeline valued at over $5.8bn.

The pipeline features projects in the highway, airport, jail and EV sectors, all of which are set to be tendered this year.

General Director of Concessions, Juan Manuel Sánchez, said the announcements were “good news for the economy, for investment, for the public-private alliance and also for people”.

Responses to the RFP are due March 28, 2024. More information can be found about the RFP and pipeline by clicking here.
