University of Ottawa has released a request for information (RFI) on an infrastructure renewal P3 project.

Under the plans, private partners would be brought in to design, build, finance and implement a long-term program to upgrade aging infrastructure facilities, potentially featuring the site's power plant.

The project will be part of the university’s long-term sustainability goals which include becoming carbon neutral by 2040. To do this the university will “leverage industry knowledge and capital”.

From this RFI, the university is looking to gather industry interest and expertise as it crafts the program.

University energy P3s have become a major theme in the US market, with large campus establishments looking to the private sector to bring innovation and capacity in their decarbonization pushes. Flagship projects include in the University of Iowa and University of Florida’s energy programs.
