The Government of Rio Grande do Sul has signed a deal to start structuring using P3 to upgrade 100 schools.

Under the agreement, The Secretariat for Partnerships and Concessions will help the state analyze and structure the bundle that will see private partners invest, upgrade and maintain the facilities.

According to an indicative timeline, public consultations and project preparation will take place next year, with a formal tender to be launched in 2025.

Governor Eduardo Leite said that utilizing the P3 model opens up a “new front of action” in improving education facilities in the area.

Earlier this year, the World Bank opened a search for consultants to help prepare a Brazilian PFI/PPP-type schools bundle.
