UK construction firm Kier has acquired Buckingham Group’s railway assets.

The deal will see Kier pick up the business for £9.6m, which includes its HS2 contract supplying the joint venture delivering the megaproject.

Buckingham Group has recently entered administration, with Grant Thornton handling the process.

Kier chief executive Andrew Davies said that the business is “an excellent strategic fit and accelerates our rail strategy”.
