UTA President Jennifer Cowley has said that the organization is currently considering how best to proceed with improvement plans for its former School of Social Work building, which sits on the corner of Cooper and Abrams.
Speaking in her first annual State of the University presentation, Cowley said: “A team from the Urban Land Institute recently came to campus to offer their advice, and we’re exploring public-private partnerships for redevelopment.”
Without giving further details, she added that people should “stay tuned for a further update” on the project.
Texas has become a hotbed of student accommodation P3 activity over recent months. Last month, the Texas Christian University issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a private partner to design, build, finance, maintain, and in most cases, operate assets both on campus and along its Berry Street campus edge.
In July, the University of Texas Austin (UT Austin) issued an RFQ for its own residence hall redevelopment scheme.
