A plan is in place for the expansion and improvement of the San Jerónimo de Cusco wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), with a private partner expected to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the plant for 23 years.

ProInversion said the PPP arrangement will ensure that the plant remains in the public sector’s hands and will not result in shares in the scheme being transferred to the private sector. The agency said that the funding for the scheme will come from the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.

So far, ProInversion has held a series of technical meetings with officials from the state government and the Provincial Municipality of Cusco, and will continue to hold meetings with relevant parties ahead of a tender process beginning in the first quarter of 2024.
