Miami-Dade County will consider private finance for a Resource Recovery Facility (RRF) project.
The county is looking to develop facilities that will use a variety of “technologies or strategies” to handle the entirety of the county’s waste and divert significant amounts away from landfill, while providing “financial stability”.
While the authority recommends the facility will be county-owned, it is open to various financing options including P3s.
The authority has now initiated plans to develop and issue a solicitation for a design criteria package for the project.
Miami-Dade has considered using P3 for multiple projects in recent years, including the Rickenbacker Causeway project and the Metrocentre scheme.
