Four teams were shortlisted for the Blue Line project in August last year, and at that time it was expected that a winner would be announced in November 2022.
An official at the Jerusalem Transport Management Team (JTMT) has now confirmed that the team expects to announce the winning bidder “in the coming weeks”.
The winner will be required to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a new 31km light rail system across Jerusalem, including a 2km subterranean section in the city’s centre.
Earlier this year, the Tel Aviv Purple Line PPP reached financial close, as Israel continues to look to the PPP model to deliver its infrastructure.
