Institutional investor Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan has appointed a new acting head of investments, as its current chief investment officer (CIO) is to step down later this year.
After 23 years at Ontario Teachers, including as CIO for the past five years, Ziad Hindo is to leave at he end of 2023.
“I would like to thank Ziad for his many contributions in his 23 years at Ontario Teachers’,” said Jo Taylor, Chief Executive Officer. “Through his leadership, Ziad has built an outstanding Investments team, diversified the portfolio by sector and geography, and led the development of the investment strategy that has delivered strong returns for members for over two decades.
Stephen McLennan, currently executive managing director of total fund management, becomes acting head of investments with immediate effect, working closely with Hindo to ensure a smooth transition of the investments division.
McLennan joined Ontario Teachers in 2003 and also currently serves on the board of Cadillac Fairview, Ontario Teachers’ wholly owned real estate subsidiary.
