The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has released a notice of funding opportunity that could open a wave of future P3 projects in the water sector.

The $7.5bn Corps Water Infrastructure Financing Program (CWIFP) will support non-federal dam safety projects, eligible to be used on up to 49% of project costs and repaid over long term lengths.

Partnerships, such as P3s, and joint ventures are included in the set up of potential projects, with the funding looking to augment other public and private funding and financing sources.

The new funding will build on the successful role that WIFIA financing played in the USACE-supported Fargo-Moorhead P3 project. To read more about the role that federal government agencies, such as USACE, have played in shaping the P3 market, click here.
