The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) has signed the deal with private partner PDAB Port Investments Sociedad Gestora.

Under the agreement, the partner will convert Puerto Duarte in Arroyo Barril-Samaná into a cruise terminal. It is estimated that PDAB will invest around US$68m, in return for receiving a net income of US$1.75 per cruise passenger and US$0.53 for the monthly lease per square meter used in the project.

The Dominican Republic has been ramping up its P3 program in recent years, with a pipeline being developed by the General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAPP) that also includes the major Ambar Highway scheme.
