A contract notice for Durham County Council’s planned regeneration project has been issued.
The authority is seeking a private partner to enter into a joint venture that will redevelop the council-owned Aykley Heads site, to act as a catalyst for the new Durham Innovation District.
Sitting within the wider 60ha area, the 15ha site is within single council ownership and has outline planning permission for 39,000sq m of commercial floorspace.
Although the joint venture will initially focus on the Aykley Heads location, its scope may be expanded in the future to cover wider County Durham area opportunities, the tender states.
