Working with Transport for Wales, the government is seeking potential interest from providers in supplying hydrogen to initially power 20 buses on routes within the County of Swansea, with the potential to include a further 30 buses servicing routes within the County of Bridgend.

A provider of green hydrogen will be appointed to support the pilot scheme, with an expectation that refuelling points will be established in both Swansea and Bridgend.

The pilot scheme will cover an initial three years, starting in either late 2025 or early 2026, with the potential for the pilot to be extended to five years.

A contract notice is due to be published on 15 November 2023. To see the full PIN, click here.
