The US Department of Transportation (USDOT) has appointed a new leader of the Build America Bureau (BAB) for its innovative finance and delivery efforts.
Maritza Pechin is taking up the role, joining from the City of Richmond, Virginia, where she was the deputy planning director.
In her new role, she will work to bolster capacity and understanding in the local and state government sectors about funding, and other innovative finance and delivery opportunities, including P3s, as well as the bureau’s technical assistance programs.
Pechin added that she is “excited to help local governments further their development goals with assistance from the USDOT”.
The BAB has been spearheading the distribution of the USDOT’s P3 programs, many of which were spurred by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, including funding numerous innovative finance regional accelerators.
