Fallout from the Beechmere retirement village PFI fire disaster continues as court proceedings ramp up.
Following investigations of the 2019 fire that destroyed the facility, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service brought forward charges against the six firms involved in the project under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
This week at Warrington Magistrates court, Avantage, Your Housing and Morgan Sindall pled not guilty to the charges, with WSP, Total Fire, and MAC Roofing giving no indication of plea.
According to the fire service, during the investigation “alleged breaches of the Order were also discovered at another retirement village”.
The case will now proceed to Chester Crown Court for trial, starting next month. More information on the charges can be found by clicking here.
