RFP out for next Gautrain concessionaire

The Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the next consortium to take over the operation of its flagship rail PPP project.

The deal with the current concessionaire, Bombela Concession Company, is set to expire in March 2026, and a new firm will take over the project’s operations for five years.

Last year, Johannesburg-based Murray & Roberts sold its shares in the Bombela Concession Company (BCC) to Dutch investor, Intertoll. The firm had previously acquired the shares from Bouygues and Bombardier.

GMA has considered the potential extension of the rail system, including procuring advisors to assess a new 140km stretch.

Responses to the RFP must be submitted by November 20, 2023. The tender can be found by clicking here.
