Iowa State University (ISU) has released a request for information (RFI) for a major mixed-use P3 project.

Under the plans, the university is looking for private partners to deliver its flagship CYTown development, a “transformational” mixed-use development situated on 40 acres of ISU-owned land in the City of Ames.

The project will utilize a design, build, finance, operate and maintain P3 contract.

The university said it “welcomes creative, inspiring, and innovative ideas and is looking to private sector thought leaders for innovative ideas that maximize the potential of this signature project”.

Responses are due December 31, 2023. The tender can be found by clicking here.

Neighboring institution, the University of Iowa, has pioneered the higher education energy P3 sector in recent years, signing a major partnership with Engie, Meridiam and Hannon Armstrong. However, the project has hit obstacles, going to court over contract interpretations.
