The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has selected smart infrastructure firm Cavnue as its innovation partner for the US’s first smart freight corridor.
Cavnue will act as the state’s innovation partner as it looks to deliver digital-led infrastructure along a 21-mile stretch of Highway 130.
The firm will install a network of sensors and cameras alongside the stretch which will communicate information to vehicles, advising them on the road ahead - a key component in the future of autonomous truck systems.
The project is Cavnue’s second scheme, after recently starting on the nation’s first smart road project in Michigan, a smart corridor along I-94 near Detroit.
Cavnue recently appointed P3 stalwart Karl Reichelt as its new chief commercial officer.
