New Mexico’s House of Representatives has again voted in favor of a bill that would establish P3 as part of the state procurement laws.

Representatives voted 56-9 in favor of the bill, which would enable the state government to procure P3 schemes, as well as allow for unsolicited proposals to be considered by the authority.

However, this is the third year in succession that the House has pushed through legislation on the implementation of P3s, only to see it stall in the state Senate.

In both 2022 and 2023, action on the bills that had been backed by the House was postponed indefinitely on reaching the Senate, leaving questions over whether the House’s latest efforts will have any impact.
